Regular readers will know I am a big fan of DVBLink, I run it on my Media Center PC and then have clients installed on my iPad and Android devices. During this weeks Podcast Garry mentioned that there is a 3rd party client available in the Windows 8 Store that will work on Windows 8 and Windows RT.

This should be great on the new Microsoft Surface tablets and I can’t wait to give it a try next week. The app enables watching live TV from the a PC or tablet, currently it only supports live TV but the developer is working on new features.

So while Windows RT doesn’t support Media Center using this app and the DVBLink server on your Media Center machine you can use RT as an extender.

The app is free and you can find it in the Windows 8 store

  1. Is DVBLink a full software sled solution? Does it support a Shared Guide between the client and server? In other words if i’m recording a show on the server will that show up as being recorded on one the the client’s TV Guide?
