VLC is a great all purpose media player application and has recently been ported over to Android. Today the 3rd beta of the app has been released and it looks like it has some nice improvements. There is a faster and improved UI, new menus and stability improvements on for Android 4.1 and the Nexus 7. I use the beta often for watching media on my Nexus 7 and these improvements definitely make the app a little more polished.

You can find the app in the Google Play store for free

What’s in this version:

This is the third beta available of VLC for Android.
The new beta improves slightly the UI, increases speed and stability, adds Intel support and brings a few new features.
The UI now features a sliding menu, an access to your history and access to playback speed change. You can now change brightness with a gesture and change your ringtone.
This update also fixes many crashes, notably on Nexus 7 and improves integration on Android 4.1.
Finally, a lot of news translations have been added.
