Sky have a major update for the Sky+ iPad app, the main additions to the app are remote control and planner management. The remote control is gesture based with swipe navigation, I am not sure if not simpler just to pick up the Sky remote but it’s a nice feature.

The planner management enables you to schedule recordings, view your planner and add reminders from the app.  Being able to manage your recordings from the iPad without disturbing normal TV viewing will be very handy.

You can find the app in the app store.

What’s New in Version 4.0

iPad users with the new Sky Guide on their Sky+HD box can now connect to their box and do the following:
• SKY PLANNER MANAGEMENT – View your Planner, book recordings, add reminders & delete items
• REMOTE CONTROL – Swipe to rewind & fast forward, tap to pause / play & change channels
• NEW TV GUIDE – Genre tabs help you navigate quickly & tapping on a channel icon will change the channel on your TV
• IMPROVED NAVIGATION – Now the app is easier, faster & more intuitive to use
• IMPROVED SEARCH – Search for programmes in the TV listings as well as your planner
Please note:
To use the enhanced iPad features you will need a Sky+HD compatible box, the new Sky Guide and have your iPad and Sky+HD box connected to the same broadband network. Please see the Help section of the app for more details.
The terms and conditions have been amended to reflect the above changes to the app. Please read them carefully before using the app.
