When Google announced the Nexus 7 and Nexus Q devices at Google I/O the Nexus 7 generated lots of interest with its low price the Q seemed like less of a good idea.  The $299 music and video device seemed expensive and had limited features.

Google must agree with the less than stellar reviews as they have pulled sales of the device.  In an email sent of any one that pre-ordered a Q they have said they are postponing the consumer launch of the Nexus Q while they “work on making it even better”. Any customers that ordered a Q will get a free device (which shows how low the orders must have been) and a revised device may go on sale in the future.

For me the main issue is that it will only playback content from Google Play and not any local content, so if local and DLNA support was added it would be more useful.
