Hidden away in a filing with the US Security and Exchange Commission are the details that the Microsoft Surface will be available from October 26th. The details spotted by bloggers over the weekend (including Paul Thurrott) confirm that the tablet will be on sale the day of the Windows 8 launch on October 26th. This will be the ARM powered version as Microsoft have already said the that the Windows 8 Pro version will be shipping 90 days after the RT version.
When Microsoft announced the Surface they said it would be sold in Microsoft Stores which there are none in the UK so we will have to wait and see for UK availability.
There is still no news of the pricing of the Surface, my guess is that it will be around the iPad price and Microsoft will not try to compete at the lower price of the Google Nexus 7.
