There has been a lot of speculation on what Windows Phone 8 (code name Apollo) will look like and whether it will be based on Windows 8 and today many of the features have leaked out.  In a post on PocketNow they have details from a leaked video intended for partner which list some interesting features:

  • Multi-core processors
  • 4 screen resolutions
  • microSD card support
  • NFC
  • Shared core with Windows 8
  • Scrapping of the Zune Desktop app with a companion app being used for syncing
  • Skype integration
  • Improved camera app
  • New business features like BitLocker

It looks like a major step forward if the details are true and the integration of Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 could put Windows Phone ahead of other platforms. Microsoft haven’t commented on the leak, I imagine that they wish they could kept the lid on the details for now.

  1. I wonder if current Windows Phones will be able to upgrade? Or will it be like in the olden days, with Windows Mobile, where you had to stick with pretty much what was installed when the device was shipped?
