CEDIA UK have announced they are pulling the plug on this years Home Technology Event. The event was scheduled for the end of May but the organisers have caned the event due to “a lack of industry support”

I haven’t ever been to the event but I am pretty sure Garry covered it for TDL a couple of times. As consumer technology replaces high end custom installer gear it’s no surprise to the show canceled, there is a “pro” day at this years Gadget Show Live so there are other opportunities there but it’s sad to see another uk event disappear.

On CEDIA.co.uk they explained that times are challenging for the Custom Installer market:

“We recognise that these are challenging times for the CI industry, alongside many other sectors of the economy,” says CEDIA Region 1’s Executive Director, Wendy Griffiths. “CEDIA has heavily subsidised the show since 2009 in response to demands from the industry for a dedicated CI industry platform in the UK. Without the support of the majority of suppliers from within the sector, we have decided that it is not in the best interests of its stakeholders to host the show. With time running short, we have consulted with our organising partners for the show, Upper Street Events, and, regrettably, have agreed to cancel the show for 2012.”
