Netflix are gearing up for a UK launch next year and today they announced a deal with BBC Worldwide to offer watch instant access to BBC content like Torchwood, Doctor Who and classic shows like Fawlty Towers. I do wonder if there is a bit of conflict of interest for the BBC, BBC Worldwide sells the commercial rights to the shows but the BBC could offer these shows for free on iPlayer a service subsidised by us the licence payer.
