In an unsuprrising move Dell has said its discontinuing its range of consumer Netbooks. The mini netbooks are no longer been offered with Dell saying the Inspiron 14R is the next best thing. Dell told CNET:

“We sold through the Dell Mini some time ago. We’re committed to the highly portable space and have focused on delivering thin + powerful solutions, for which we’ve seen strong success, particularly in our XPS line,” Matthew Hutchison, director of Dell Global Consumer PR, said in a statement sent to CNET.

Consumers are moving away from Netbook devices towards tablets, most of the task I used my old Samsung Netbook I can do on my iPad. With such low margins on Netbooks I wonder how long other manufactures will sell Netbooks for?
