Last week I wrote about Remote Potato HD for the iPad and today the app is available in the app store. The application turns your iPad to a Windows Media Center Extender and using Airplay can turn the Apple TV into an extender. It has lots of features including:

  • Stream music, pictures and videos from a home PC to the iPad, over the Internet.
  • Most major video formats supported; streamed in near-HD quality
  • No more syncing! Browse your home music library, listen to songs streamed direct from your PC.
  • View your home photo library; download or email pictures to friends.
  • Sync up albums and songs for offline access.
  • AirPlay support – stream your stuff directly to an AppleTV.
  • Browse the TV Guide and schedule recordings.
  • Manage existing recordings
  • Watch previously recorded TV shows; Remote Potato was the first app in the world to directly
stream WTV recorded TV files to iOS.
  • Use an AppleTV as a $100 Media Center Extender – play HD content for the first time.

The app costs £3.99 which is great value. More details a RemotePotato.com and full review coming soon. Checkout the video of the app in action bellow:

  1. The app does look very nice but I don’t think you can truly call it an extender until it does live tv as well, now if they integrated with DVBLink…
