CyberLink today launched a new and improved version of PowerDVD. PowerDVD 11 has a host of new features and having played with a pre-release version I can say that the Media Center experience (known as Cinema Mode) although still not a fully integrated experience, seems much smoother. There are numerous other improvements and, although I am yet to try them in anger, the introduction of the new iOS and Android Remote Apps looks useful. There are still some things I dislike, in particular the way PowerDVD insists on grabbing all the AutoPlay handlers for media it can process, but generally this seems to be really good release. One feature I do like is that you can now play DLNA hosted content and also video from online sites like YouTube in PowerDVD with the full capabilities of its TruTheater upscaling technology.
