VideoLan and the VLC development team have announced VLC 1.1.8. The update includes bugfixes, security updates and VP8/Webm encoder. On the Mac there is a new look too.

I really like VLC, I find it will play more or less anything you can through at it.

VideoLAN and the VLC development team present VLC 1.1.8, a minor release of the 1.1 branch.
Small new features, many bugfixes, updated translations and security issues are making this release too. Notable improvements include updated look on Mac, new Dirac encoder, new VP8/Webm encoder, and numerous fixes in codecs, demuxers, interface, subtitles auto-detection, protocols and platform integration.

  1. I tried this as you mentioned on the last podcast but it doesn’t recognise the freeview hd recordings or is it something i’m missing?

  2. Freeview HD recordings may not work. I think they will need be converted to mp4 first due to wtv file and the digital audio
