I had to do a post to thank everybody that attended the 2nd Windows Media Center/WHS user group meeting. We had a fantastic day with some great sessions and best of all we had great conversations all day.

The venue “The Studio” in Birmingham was amazing, we had multiple presentation areas, areas showing off some amazing kit and the staff where great.

IMG_2688 After the introductions and a tour of Made For Media Center we had a great presentation from The Green Button’s Pete Brown. Pete flew over from the US to attend the meeting and had some interesting insights from inside Microsoft and he explain Microsoft’s commitment to Windows Media Center. The audience where able to put there points to Pete and I am sure he has some great feedback to take back to Redmond

David Simpson from Passive Technologies did a brilliant talk on building a Windows Media Center system that stimulated lots of conversations, while in the other room Garry Whittaker showed how easy it is to get started with Windows Phone 7 development

As seems customary Andrew Edney followed Pizza (very kindly supplied by John Price from the nxtgenug.net) and did a great job explaining what is new in next version of Windows Home Server while in the other room Andrew Cherry showed us how to develop Windows Media Center apps (hopefully we will have some new Media Center developers)

Garry returned with Mark Lawson from DVBLogic with an in-depth look at DVBlogic and streaming TV and Eddy Carroll showed off Amulet’s voice controlled remote control which is very impressive

IMG_2693 We had a ton of prizes to give away including Sonos kit, Zune HD,  I lost count on how many Xtreamers we gave away (at least 12), DVBlink licences, Zune artwork and I think nearly everybody won something (I wanted the Zune coat but wasn’t eligible to win)

We wrapped up with a Q&A session and if the initial feedback I got is anything to go from it seems to be great successes

Thanks to everybody that attended, the presenters, Ruth, Jo and Charlotte plus Microsoft for funding the location. I should have some pictures, podcast and videos from the event out soon
