Korg i3 Workstation / Arranger Keyboard

IMG_2533

It’s been a great keyboard, with full sequencer, synth and auto-accompaniment engine. I also have all the original manuals.

It’s heavy so collection only! I have put it on ebay:

From wikipedia:

The Korg i3 is a keyboard instrument introduced by Korg in 1993. Known as an “Interactive Music Workstation”, the i3 broke new ground for Korg, and defined a new type of instrument – the professional auto-accompaniment workstation. Contrary to popular belief, it was not Korg’s first foray into the realm of auto-accompaniment – it had a minor hit in 1985 with the SAS-20, a home keyboard with built-in speakers.[1]

Previously, the auto-accompaniment concept was not taken seriously by professional users, who saw it more the preserve of home hobbyists, and the market had been dominated by low-cost machines made by the likes of Casio and Yamaha. Roland‘s E-Series line had made inroads into improving the reputation of auto-accompaniment, but there was still some way to go.

Retailing for $2500, the i3 used a 32-voice tone generation system derived from the X3, using the company’s familiar AI2 synthesis system. All 340 tones were user-editable (max. 64 user voices could be saved in backed RAM memory + 2 user drum sets) and sampled at 32kHz. The auto-accompaniment section consisted of 48 in-built styles, each consisting of 4 variations, 2 fill-ins, and 2 intros/endings. There were a further 4 “blank” spaces for user styles to be loaded into non-volatile RAM via a 3.5″ DD floppy disk and 4 from a memory card. There were also two sequencers; a conventional 16-track General MIDI compatible system for the editing and playback of SMF data, whilst there was also a “Backing Sequencer” – effectively a simple recorder for recording of performances using the auto-accompaniment system, but had the ability to add a further 10 tracks over this. The most obvious sign to the user that the i3 was a departure from the usual auto-accompaniment keyboard format was the lack of built in speakers.

Oberheim OB3 organ tone generator

This is a really cool organ unit, great for emulating classic organ sounds , also on ebay

This is a great drawbar midi expander, very good Hammond sounds, leslie emulator, overdrive and FXs

Great condition, home user only and comes with power supply and manual

The OB3 brings all the features of a classic electro-magnetic drawbar organ into a compact digital package,
also available as a keyboard unit.

To replicate the sound produced in the original drawbar instruments by 91 tone wheels, the OB3 utilizes 91 separate digital
generators, giving it the most realistic organ sound available.

The reproduction of the 91 generators perfectly copies the two fundamental features of the original sound: the drawbar-mixing
for spectral sounds and the avoidance of transposition of original sounds.

Rotary speaker simulation is accomplished with a complex algorithm that incorporates the various physical-acoustical apects
of a rotating speaker, motor response, speaker design and cabinet design.

All the sounds are the product of careful study of filter characteristcs and attenuators in the original Hammond organ. The
result is a consistent and faithful sound in every drawbar combination.

The Oberheim OB3 Drawbar Organ Expander is designed to add the classic drawbar organ sound to any MIDI keyboard or MIDI setup.
The compact design allows hands-on control of the OB3, an iimportant part of an authentic organ performance. A host of foot controls
can be connected to the OB3, offering great versatility in performance. Six programmable control the sound of the Upper, or Solo
keyboard, whiled the Lower section offers five presets plus the Bass Pedal sound.

The OB32 authentically recreates the standard set of nine real-time drawbars, 2nd and 3rd Harmonic Percusson (featuring Norm/Soft and
Slow/Fast options) and the Vibrato and Chorus can be assigned to either, neither or both Upper and Lower sections of the keyboard.
Oberheim has also preserved the distinctive sound of the rotary speaker cabinet, featuring fast and slow speeds as well as a realistic “Hot
Tube” Overdrive. Other onboard features include independent Bass and Treble controls as well as a Digital Reverb offering such effects as
Plate, Spring and Stage reverbs and even a realistic Tape Echo effect.
