There are lots of apps for controlling Windows Media Center with an iPhone and I thought I would start talking a look at how good they are.

The first app I tried is vmcMote, I used the lite version which is free and there is a full version priced at £4.99. Both are available in the iPhone app store, as well as the the iPhone app you also need a server application that you install on your Windows Media Center machine (which is also a free download).

What I like about this app is its two way communication with Media Center, from the iPhone you can search for music, play tracks and create playlists. There is also a remote control for navigating around Media Center with the lite version having a limited set of buttons

In this video I take a look at what it can do, play some music and control Windows Media Center. In future videos I will look at other remote apps
