If you like archiving your DVDs and Blurays to Media Center system or Windows Home Server then there is a great app for doing this from the 10 foot Media Center interface. The application called Auto Rip n Compress uses 3rd party apps to do the ripping and will use Handbrake to do the compression. I like the idea of doing the archiving from Media Center and not having to go back to the desktop to kick off a rip, the more apps that keep us in the 10 foot UI the better. The app is free and is available at the Windows Media Center app store plus there is a great thread about the app on TGB

Here are some of the details from the developer:

Automatically Rip and Compress (if desired) DVDs and Blu-rays from inside Media Center. Uses either DVDFab HD Decrypter, AnyDVD, or MakeMKV for ripping and Handbrake for compression.

  1. This looks really cool and I see you can also save in a ipod compatible format.

The 10 ft app that I would really like is on a TV recording is to bring up the i menu and compress to ipod. This would then convert and put the file in the location of your choiice for syncing with the iphone.
