  1. Well. It is nice that you could control you MCE from an Iphone. But all these apps focusing on MCE integration through a web interface just does not take into the account that we would neeed to be able to turn on and off our tvs etc

    The answer though, is quite simple. Have Girder Webserver work on your system, with a global cachΓ© device and build your website. Have a look at the source in the “Send message” ajax section of the girder demo sites.

    Should be a no brainer.

    Ben, you already wrote about you using the Vmccontroller….If you look at the comments I, ve created a command line utillity with girder in mind(for olddogs version)

    Then it all comes down to how good you are at designing webpages and systems.. I’m sure that if you and Ian looked in to this, you would see the potentential…We are talkin crooss reference systems with custom ui… All you need is a class dump webdesigner..

  2. I don’t know about “Hideous” hehe. What would you suggest? I am going for an interface that is easy to use for people with fat fingers πŸ™‚

  3. Is it as responsive as the remote app for itunes? That works straight off the bat and I have not experienced and delay unlike the numerous window mobile based remotes. As for NGRC, I couldn’t even get it to work let alone control my media.

  4. Cool got it working in 5 minutes. Don’t agree with ben does the job and well. Now if it could browse the music libary this would be killer for me. If if it could display a playlist would be a app I would pay 10 times hell 20 times the price. Next thing i’m doing is downloading the paid for app.

  5. @dunks517 It is very responsive

    @Ads yeah that would be sweet,Someone made an app that does that. I haven’t played with it though it is 10x the price like you said πŸ™‚ Looks really good in the screenshots though. http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/69258/335822.aspx

    @Baski It doesn’t support an extender at the moment. I will definitely support it at some point in the future though as I plan to buy an extender πŸ™‚

    Thans all for the feedback.

  6. I’ve just tried this, and it works really well.

    I don’t think the screen shots doe it any justice but do think it could do with a bit of a face lift.

    Saying that, it is very responsive and I have had no probs so far.

    @jkells

    I love the scroll/swipe box, is there anyway you could get the app to initiate Turbo Scroll if say the user kept his/her finger at the edge of the box?

    I’ve been using Richard Penner’s WMC Remote and everything seems to be on the main screen and was started to find it a pain navigating to the launch screen, tapping a menu then tapping back to the main screen to use the swipe box …. any chance of having the swipe box on the launch screen aswell? just above the buttons?

    Other than being able to support Extenders (mentioned above) have you thought about the app being able to store the IP of a second or third Media Center PC? Allowing the user to switch to another HTPC (someone like me who may retreat to another room if the Mrs starts to watch junk like Medium, Ghost Whisperer etc etc)

    Just some thoughts

  7. @spongebob Yeah, I totally agree about the swipe box on the launch page. That is one of my gripes with it too.

    Adding support for multiple PC’s should be in the next version. I just need to think of a nice way of doing it without complicating it for normal users.

    @dunks517 thanks πŸ™‚

  8. New version went up over the weekend πŸ™‚

    It’s a bit prettier!

    Changes include:
    * New colour theme in the free version.
    * Choice of 5 themes in the paid version.
    * Launch tab buttons jump back to the navigation tab after you press them.
    * Paid version now has a track pad for controlling the mouse.
    * Paid version now has keyboard support.
    * Windows client runs on Windows XP. I don’t have a copy of MCE2005 so not sure how well it works.
