I have a great show this week, I have an interview with Microsoft’s Scott Evans talking about the New American Home which includes a whole home Media Center solution and I have The Digital Lifestyle.com Awards show recorded live at CES. The recording features bloggers and enthusiasts talking Windows Media Center, Windows Home Server and the winners of the awards.

I also have email and a round up of the news

  1. Say what, myTV actually won? by default? 😉

I do have to take issue with Richard’s statement “very rare that will want to pay for plugins for Media Center” though. I’ve found the complete opposite to be true, that people are more than happy to send over some cash for (in this case) myTV – much more so than I have experienced on other platforms where it is expected that the AddIns are free.

There are 844 registered users on the myTV website that has paid to this date (we’re talking a period of perhaps 13 months) and that is not counting any of the OEM installs where the end users have, in some cases, selected myTV as an extra option. The real number of customers/sales are “secret”, but I think the public numbers show great confidence and if the growth continues as it has til now I am looking at a fairly good chunk of change in the coffers once myDVD hits the shelves.

I do wonder how come none of Niall’s applications were nominated though? His Big Screen Photos application for example must surely have a great deal of users out there?

  2. not by default, myTV was nominated, Nial needs to motivate his user base to vote!

I am very please to see people paying for quality applications , it shows that people pay for good apss and there is good ecosystem around media center

we should get you on the show
