I thought it was just my Zune but apparently not (and here), reports are coming in of the 30GB version of the Zunes locking up and then no rebooting. Mine is total locked nothing I can do with, I hope there is a way of fixing it as I have about 30 hours of flying next week.
It looks like some kind of date problem and there is no word yet on how to fix the problem
OH I heard about this, my friend has a 4 GB, so I dont know if it affected her, but a few ppl are calling this Z2K

Soooo glad I have the 80GB version. There’s a comment on the Crunchgear article on how to fix it if you don’t want to wait for MS.
Wife’s 8GB Zune will not restart, as of 6.00 pm Dec/12/ 30 PST.
I just checked my 30gb version and it is also locked up.
