Tonight I decided to try out Video Browser.  I’ve got to say I’m really impressed, it’s a great add-in for watching your video.  I actually picked it up to try it out for the the TV, and it’s pretty cool, you can download it  here and it’s best to read the Wiki to get it setup just right.

That’s not really what this post is about though.  When I was browsing the Wiki above I found two really neat meta data tools that I really wanted to share.

TVScout

TV Scout  is a really great little app for getting TV series meta data and graphics.  But it does more than that, way more!  When you run it you simple pop in the location of your TV files and it goes off and reads through them.  It downloads meta data from thetvdb and pulls in banners, posters and other art from there too.  It also renames all the video files to episode number and name, removes all.the.full.stops.or.periods and generally cleans things up.  You can get it from just hereMeta Babel

MetaBabel is a simple way to get good movie data.  It uses DVDempire to get hold of data and images.   All you do is search for the name of the Movie in the web page bit, then select the folder the movie is stored in in box 1, select front and or back DVD covers and finally click download.  It then downloads the images and turns the meta data into an individual mymovies.xml and places it all in the movies folder.  You can get MetaBabel here

Armed with these two Video Browser becomes a really cool little tool.  But these two on their own are worth the download.

Do you know of any better tools for getting Meta Data?  Do you know of a way of combining multiple mymovies.xml files into one single file….if you do leave a comment.
