I have always liked the FM radio app on Lumia phones, while I don’t use it very often I do find it handy when at motor sport events to pickup the commentary broadcast from the circuit. The FM radio app doesn’t use any data and is light on the battery. Sadly, it looks like Microsoft are planning to ditch the app with Windows 10 Mobile, withdrawing it from the latest Windows 10 Mobiles.

Microsoft have confirmed on via Twitter that they have removed the app from the dev branch of Windows 10 Mobile. There are 3rd party app that will fill in the gap, it does seem a shame that a perfectly good working app is being withdrawn but Microsoft must feel low usage numbers does not warrant the development time.

  1. Real shame. =(
Been using the app regularly since I discovered it on my Zune. Don’t think it changed at all for WP7 to WP8.x or W10M
While I get why MS wouldn’t want an abandoned app in the OS, would it really hurt to leave it in the store to download if you want it. Its not as though the Windows Store has a problem with too many Apps.
