We use the cloud for almost everything now. I store my music in the cloud, email is in the cloud, my files are stored on the cloud and the cloud is giving access to computing resources not possible just a few years ago. This is a sponsored post from IBM about a very interesting project.

Aeromines is a unique project for students, researchers and the made with IBM’s HPC Cloud technology with Professor Elie Hachem. Aeromines isa collaborative environment that brings together students, researchers and industries and reduces the costs of complex computational modelling, with unlimited storage and total security it significantly lowers the time taken to test out new ideas (up to 91%).

Professor Elie Hachem (of Ecole Des Mines one of the most prestigious engineering schools in France) was inspired to create an online space that could offer a pay as you go model for high performance computing to help reduce costs for the school. He was supported by a community of industry leaders and specialist researchers.  He then applied and won an IBM technology grant, and in this video he discusses with Benoit Vautrin of IBM the transformational effect of the partnership with IBM, and the features of the Aeromines platform with IBM’s systems architect.

High Performance Computing Cloud (HPC Cloud) is IBM’s hybrid cloud offering for the enterprise, it combines cutting edge technology with up-to-date security and unlimited storage, encrypted resources and networking tools, and scalable computing power that can use any number of parallel servers according to demand. This on-demand capability makes HPC Cloud a cost-effective solution for industries that have complex software, modelling or data processing needs.
