MediaPortal the .net based media center system (which supports live and recorded TV and is a good Windows Media Center alternative) has a new pre-release available for testers.
The new version can now decode and display closes captions from TV channels that use H.264/AVC compressions (as well as the existing MPEG2 features). There are also bug fixes, gamepad support and some minor UI improvements.
For users of Closed Caption subtitling, MP 1.12 Pre Release can now decode and display Closed Captions from TV channels using H.264/AVC video compression (in addition to the existing MPEG2 capability).
