Microsoft have updated the Microsoft Health unlocking it from the Microsoft Band. With the app you can now track your steps and calories using the motion sensor of the phone so if you don’t have a Microsoft Band you can still use the app to monitor your movements. The app is compatible with Windows Phone SensorCore devices, iPhone 5s and higher and selected Android device. There is a setting in the app where you can have the phone log your motion when you are not wearing your Band (or if you don’t have one).

The update also adds auto sleep detecting so you don’t have to activate the Sleep tile to track your sleep and it will be interesting to see how well this works.

You can find the app in the Windows Phone Store, Google Play Store and iTunes Store.

– Multi-Device support: Track your steps and calories without the Microsoft Band, using the motion sensor on the phone you own*

– Connected Apps: Share your bike data with Strava and MapMyRide

– Sleep: Auto-detect your sleep without activating the Sleep tile.

*Motion tracking works with Windows Phone SensorCore devices, iPhone 5s and greater, and certain Android 4.4 phones and greater.
