WP_20141001_09_40_59_Pro.jpgThe BBC have updated the iOS version of the iPlayer app saying they are improving the viewing and browsing experience. The app seems to be faster when scrolling around the interface, I couldn’t much difference when actually watching a TV show but the BBC say is should be “smoother”. There are also a couple of other tweaks like the return of the download button in the programme page in the TV Guide.

The app is free from the iTunes Store.

What’s new in version 4.3.0?

– Better reliability makes for smoother viewing and browsing.

– Many bugs were harmed in the making of this update, like reinstating the download button on programme pages in the TV Guide.

On an iPad? Radio has now moved to the BBC iPlayer Radio app. Be sure to move your radio favourites from the iPlayer app to iPlayer Radio to avoid losing them.

  1. Oh no it doesn’t improve the experience. The iPad version has had the radio player removed. So you are now forced to use iplayer radio, which is optimised for phones, and is appalling on the iPad. Why this was changed is completely beyond me, the old version was great, so why “fix” something that wasn’t broken?
