Looks like I got my Lumia 1520 just in time as Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Cyan Update have started rolling out today. The Lumia Cyan update for Nokia Windows Phones has an improved Nokia Camera, Creative Studio app and Storyteller app. There is a new Nokia Device Hub and for the 1520 and Icon there is Nokia Rich Recording with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 sound.

Windows Phone 8.1 has so many new features it should have more than a .1 update tag. You can have a third column of live tiles with transparent tiles, a pull down action center with notification and short cuts, a new swipe style keyboard, IE 11 and for the US there is Cortana and a lot of other changes.

Developers have been able to try Windows Phone 8.1 through the developer program for the last few months and according to Nokia the 8.1 update and Cyan update start rolling out today. The post doesn’t say how long it’s going to take to roll out, Nokia say it started today and will arrive in the “coming weeks”

Checkout Nokia’s post for all the details.

How do I update?

  1. OMG, I CANNOT WAIT! I WANT IT NOW!!

I realize I’m fanboying hard over this update but, hey, someone has to! There has yet to be a change coming with WP8.1 that I disagree with and I welcome the updates and fixes!

Now, if only AT&T would stop dilly-dallying and just let me have my update…
