BBC iPlayer for the iPad

The last update of the iOS version of BBC iPlayer added Chromecast support to the app so you can use the app to watch BBC shows on the TV. Today’s update improves how the app resumes playback after watching on a Chromecast. If you cast a TV show to Chromecast from iPlayer and then return to the app you can pick up where you left off so you should be able to watch a show on the TV and then finish off watching it on your iPad. You can also use Chromecast for simulcast programmes.

Other changes to the app include links to the iPlayer radio app and bug fixes.

The BBC have been pretty quick at getting iPlayer working on Chromecast and it’s very easy to get started with it. Let’s hope iPlayer arrives on some of Microsoft’s platforms soon like the Xbox One and the Windows Store.

You can get the updated app in the iTunes Store.
