Microsoft’s 2nd generation of tablets are here, the devices were announced a few weeks ago and my unit arrived today.
First I have to say I love my original Surface RT, over the past year it’s replaced my Macbook Air completely and most of my iPad usage. The Surface 2 runs Windows RT 8.1 and should address some of the performance issues of the first RT device. There is a faster Tegra 4 processor, USB 3.0 port (the old model only had USB 2) and a 10.6 inch 1080p display which looks seems much clearer than the first version of the Surface. My first impression is a faster and smoother tablet but I have only spent a couple of hours with.
In this video I unbox the Surface 2 and put it side by side with my original Surface RT. I will spend more time with it and write up a review when I have had more time with it.
