There is a lot of technology in a car these days and making it efficient and safe is always a priority for car manufacturers. Ford have a great way of testing changes in the UI for in car tech and measuring the distractions it can cause. Obviously Ford don’t want to put test drivers out on the road with the risk of crashing so they have simulator for testing driver performance and reactions to the test systems.

The simulator is a full sized Ford Escape in a hydraulically controlled pod which has a 360 degree screen so the driver is totally immersed. The control room can then put different scenarios to the test and see how the driver reacts. They can use it for features like lane drift detection and braking alerts.
