HP has announced its Chrome OS based 14 inch notebook the HP Pavilion 14 is now available in the UK for £249. This is the first HP Chromebook available in the UK and is bigger than most of the other low cost Chromebook on sale at the moment. The screen runs at 1366 x 768 and it has 16GB SSD storage, 4GB RAM, webcam, USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and a 1.g GHz Intel Celeron 847 processor.

At 1.8kg it’s not the lightest Chromebook on sale but that is not surprising given the bigger screen. It’s not a premium device like the Chromebook Pixel but it significantly checked than the £1049 Pixel.

It seems like a good rival to Samsung’s Chromebook range but I am still not sold on the concept of the Chrome OS. I recently played with one and for some reason I was expecting something more than just a Chrome browser but that is exactly what Chrome OS is. You can order the Pavilion 14 from HP.com
