HP have released the price and availaiblty details of their new low cost Android tablet. The Slate 7 will launch May 1st for £129 and go head to head with other low cost Android tablets like the Nexus 7, Kindle File and Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0. The tablet comes with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), has a dual core 1.6Ghz processor, 1GB memory and 8GB SSD. It’s going to be interesting to see how well it sells and it’s certainly a different pricing strategy than the last time HP tried a tablet, the HP TouchPad was initially priced around £400 (but with a better spec). One issue I can see is that 8GB of storage with no MicoSD card slot seems a bit on the low side, you are going to fill that quickly.
