Samsung have announced that they are working with Qualcomm’s StudioAccess and ARM’s TrustZone DRM systems to bring premium HD content to Android devices with the first device will be the Galaxy Note., previously only SD content was available due to copyright restrictions. In the press release it say the content will be delivered via Samsung’s Media Hub which is actually missing on my European version of the phone so it looks like its US only.

BARCELONA, Spain — February 27, 2012 Samsung and Qualcomm today announced that they will release the secure high-definition (HD) service utilizing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon StudioAccess and ARM’s TrustZone technologies. This service allows consumers to watch brilliant HD videos directly on their mobile device through Samsung Media Hub. This secure HD service will be debuted on the 5.3″ HD Super AMOLED™ display of the Samsung Galaxy™ Note, featuring a Snapdragon processor by Qualcomm. The Galaxy Note display offers 180 degree viewing angles and is one of the first mobile devices able to support HD resolution, making it the perfect fit for this cutting edge technology. The implementation of this new hardware will provide the ability to watch luminous, HD quality movies and TV shows through Samsung’s Media Hub directly on a mobile device. The Samsung Galaxy Note will be the first device to adopt this technology via a firmware update to be announced at a later date. “Samsung is excited to pioneer the mobile HD display revolution using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor along with ARM’s Trustzone technology,” said Curtis Sasaki, Senior Vice President, Samsung Media Solutions Center America. “This combination will enable Samsung Media Hub consumers to have an HD viewing experience right in the palm of their hand.” Samsung will be demoing the Snapdragon/TrustZone-enabled HD viewing service experience on the Samsung Galaxy Note at Mobile World Congress. Viewers will be able to see a side-by-side comparison of two devices, one enabled with this technology and one without, each playing a premium collection of HD-quality television shows, such as CSI and The Office, courtesy of CBS and NBC Universal. Snapdragon StudioAccess technology provides end-to-end content protection that is on par with movie studios stringent security requirements. Snapdragon StudioAccess allows users to enjoy the newest movie titles, which previously were limited to physical medias or set-top boxes.
