Richard a regular listener to The Digital Lifestyle Show had had problems missing thumbnails in Windows Media Center Recorded TV and Photos stored on his Windows Home Server. Initially we thought the problem was a permissions problem but Richard checked the settings and they were correct, we also thought it could be a setting problem on the WHS box but a rebuild also discounted that. Richard eventually tracked down the problem and I thought it would be worth posting here to prevent others searching for hours.
The problem was caused by Nero 10 Multimedia Suite removing some registry keys in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. His solution was to create a registry file and import it back in to Windows. Now the photos and Recorded TV thumbnails are fine.
If you have the problem you can download a copy of the reg file HERE then double click the file once downloaded to import in to Windows (as ever take care when doing anything with Registry files)
Thanks for the tip Richard!
