Sony discontinues its TVs with Google TV

At CES I expected to see lots of Google TV powered devices but actually there not that many, Sony talked about a Blu-ray device with Google TV but I can’t remember them showing of their TV with Google TV and at the time I wondered if they were thinking of killing it. Well it looks like they are discontinuing the device, on the streamingmedia blog Dan Rayburn has done some digging and has found that Sony’s Google TV model is listed as “no longer available” with no replacement model being announced.

As I said I expected to see lots of Google TV devices at CES but what I did see was lots of TVs with internet apps built in so maybe the TV manufactures want to keep Google off their platforms and remain in control of their platforms.
