mControl for a long time has been one of the best home automation applications for Windows Media Center and now Embedded Automations (the developers behind mControl) partner in the Middle East Hadi Esper have extendered mControl to allow remote control of Windows Media Center using an iPad or mobile device
As you can see from the video you can use the iPad to control Media Center in combination with mControl
It interesting to note how many iPhone/iPad/Windows Phone and Android applications are targeting Windows Media Center, it shows that while there is a ton of development going on for mobile platforms they are still using Windows Media Center as the target application
