Clint DeBoer over at AudioHolics as written an excellent piece on the AACS analogue sunset rules that come into effect on Dec 31, 2010.

The rules effectively say that no AACS licensed device can have any analogue outputs that will deliver anything greater than 480i/576i output ( yes thats right , not even 480p/576p ).

‘Ah’ , i hear you say ‘ but i already have my Blu Ray player’, well heres the rub, Blu Ray disc creators will have the option to include a flag that turns off any HD component video, forcing it to drop to 480i/576i.

Clint goes on to point out in the article why this is going to be a nightmare for installers and hobbyists with their component HD feeds getting effectively getting  turned off over night.
