Compulab’s FitPC is astoundingly small when you see it in the flesh – it truly is a PalmSize PC but a powerful one as, harnessing the GMA500 chipset’s hardware acceleration, it is quite capable of running HD Video – in fact it was demoed running an h.264 video in 1080p. It is also totally fanless and truly silent. The only real issues I can see are that there is nowhere to fit an optical drive, the hdmi port is actually only dvi so doesn’t do audio and the 1gb ram is not expandable.

But really the specs are not important it’s just one of those things that when you see it in the flesh makes you go ‘I want one’

I took some picture but I came across this one when looking at the uk site www.fitpc.co.uk and thought it gave a much better impression:-

The model shown has 6 usb ports (2 front – 4 rear), HDMI audio in/out and an ethernet port. They are also releasing a new version with 2 Ethernet ports – handy if you have an hd-homerun and want to isolate the bandwidth.

The Fit PC2 is made by CompuLab more details including pricing at www.fit-pc.com

I’m hoping we will be able to get one to review.
