Boxee have announced details of their hardware based box that will be released soon. The box will be manufactured by D-Link and will have HDMI, S/PDIF, Ethernet, USB and a SD slot. Priced around $200 (no details on a worldwide release yet)
I think the idea of a standalone box is a good idea but your back with limitations you have with Extenders and I much prefer having a PC connected to my TV, hopefully I will get a good look at CES.
Boxee has also released details of beta which has a completely re-designed home screen and looks pretty good. I have to say I quiet like Boxee, it has a lot of potential
