Twitter Updates in Windows Media Center

Sarah Perez has details of a addin that will display your with Twitter messages in Windows Media Center . It’s actually an update to an existing Twitter tool that will send your Media Center activity to Twitter or Facebook. The updated application will popup twitter messages in to Media Center which is great if you don’t get that many messages but I don’t fancy a stream of twitter messages poping up while watching a movie.

This could be a cool app but only if 1) the tweets that popup are in a corner and close after a few seconds by themselves and 2) I could filter my follows so only those I want to see in MCE show up. I couldn’t imagine having to click “Ok” every 5 seconds. Plus there are only about 20 people I’d want to see tweets from.

If I could get specific tweets through a filter (like breaking news) it might be cool but otherwise no.

0.5.2 was just released and should address your concerns, thanks for the feedback everyone :)

    What’s new:
+ Own tweets are not shown if Twitter friends status update display is enabled
+ You can now define which friends’ tweets are shown
+ Configuration tool is now installed with the application

Arthursby/Kingtone: The status dialog will be shown 5 seconds, if the message is less than 100 characters and 10 seconds if the message is longer than 100 characters. The status dialog will disappear after the time has expired, or you can close it immediately just by pressing OK. OK button on the dialog is highlighted by default, so you just hit ENTER on keyboard or OK on remote control to close the dialog.

I’d love this to work but unfortunately I can’t get it to.

When setting it up I just get a lot of blank error (msgboxes).

Anybody had anything similar? I’ve tried on two different PCs with Win7 RC.

    Tks
