UK Windows Media Center / Digital Lifestyle Meetup

Would you be interesting in meeting like minded enthusiast at meetup next year?  I am planning a event in the UK for Windows Media Center, Windows Home Server and other digital lifestyle products enthusiast to meetup share tips and stories, see some of the latest hardware and show off some of the interesting projects the community has been working on. I am sure we can get some free food together and maybe some swag too.  The sessions could range from the basics for newcomers to advanced topics like home automation and maybe even linking Media Center with Robotics. It could also be an opportunity to give some feedback to Microsoft, what we like and what really bugs us!

So I want to know:

  • Would you come?
  • Where should it be?
  • What would you like to see shown off?
  • Would you like to show off some of your projects?
  • What kind of products should we focus on?

Either leave a comment on this post or send me an email Ian at thedigitallifestyle dotcom and if there is enough interest I can start planning it.

I’d be interested especially if it was in Manchester for a change.

If it wasn’t too far I’d probably go (I’m in Cardiff). I’d love to see integration of WHS and Media centre with home automation and security. H.264 on media centre would be good too, but I won’t hold my breath. Though my setup is pretty cool, it’s nothing too bespoke, and my missus would complain if I brought it along…

    Yes, I’d be interested.

I’d love to suggest Nottingham as the location (perhaps at the Donington Park F1 Museum facilities – http://www.donington-park.co.uk/grand-prix-collection-museum/conference-suite ?) but realistically it has to be where most people who would attend can get to. Hey, happily Nottingham is in the middle of the country! More sensibly it’s going to be London (urgh), Reading (would MS host it?) or somewhere up t’north, like Manchester.

As MS are giving away Win7 previews at PDC, by next year maybe there will be early sight possible of the next version of Media Centre?

    Hi,

We’d be interested in coming to a large enough event, and possibly exhibiting.

We’re just moving into the home automation and security field, and by Q2 we should be able to offer an integrated solution through Media Center.

    Hi

Lets do it in London! International hub, easy transportation access for non-UK people. (I’m based in London but thats not the point :P ) Um … give us a time and place Ian – I’ll be there.

    Cheers,

    J M
