How do you use Home Automation?

On [tmcs] we talk about Home Automation frequently, with packages like mControl home automation is affordable and can scale from a single light switch all the way to full security systems and environmental control. I want to know how you are using Home Automation, are you using a Media Center based system? What kind of devices are you controlling? Do you use security systems? Do you think it’s a waist of time?
