Microsoft Robotics Studio

I have just come from a demo of Microsoft Robotics Studio, you may think "What has this to do with The Digital Lifestyle" well for developers I think it could mean a lot. It’s not just fun toys, it  is a proper development platform for event driven applications and controlling external devices. So think of Home Automation possibilities, you can have it via .net communicate with Media Center, web services, react to events and control external devices. It comes with a visual tool for developing the programs that does not require any code, it has a GUI based building block designer where you can set it to react to events, they showed using an Xbox 360 control to control the robot, but it can be a lot smarter than that, it could work with Home Automation devices, web site info etc.

It’s all a free download from MSDN, I think developers could have some fun with this

The Microsoft guys explain it better than I can, so I recorded a video of there demo and I should get that posted soon, now back to the show floor
