100% of people found this usefulOK, seeing as mControl contributes to Ian's work on theDigitalLifestyle.com I thought I should chime in on a review of thier software.
I am using mControl to control all my lighting throughout the house, with plans to expand usage to security cameras and HVAC. So far the software was very easy to install, the insteon switches pretty self explanatory and the initial setup of the insteon addresses into mControl a dordle.
One small snag I had was "reverse linking", an important step if you want mControl to have full state awareness of the switches (including setting macros to controllinc keypad switches). Tech support was EXCELLENT and always resolved my issues in 1-2 minutes, why can't Microsoft be so easy !!! The trick I learned is to take your USB controller around the house and plug it in next to the device you are reverse linking and the link always takes.
I'm not married, but if I was, the "wife acceptance factor" on this product is very high. Setting up simple "mood" macros that you can easily access from my iphone was easy. Time activated macros, just as easy. My outside lights now switch on 10 minutes before I get home at work .... I even have an event macro set to dim all the lights when I start a DVD....
I am still just brushing the surface of the capabilities of mControl when it comes to real-world control and event monitoring, but I can really reccomend this product to anybody out there.....
