mceNetCAM - IP Cameras in MCE

I got the opportunity to setup an IP camera for the first time the other day. Two camera's actually both from Vivotek one was an older PT31x4 and a new IP7131.

I had seen the mceNetCAM webpage in the past and book marked it in my favourites, so I dug out the link again and downloaded the latest version of this free software which was version 3.00

The install was straight forward on my Vista Ultimate 32 bit PC. I did use MC Menu Mender to move the mceNetCAM icon in Media Center to a location I wanted.

The settings are well laid out and easy to understand. I did have a few teething problems however. I emailed the developer Roger, who I must say was extremely helpful and he even remotely connected to my IP Camera's to look at the profiles and adjusted the position of the camera control buttons on the page within Media Center as I found initially those controls were hidden out of sight at the bottom of the page and I had to scroll down to get at them.

Camera 2 - Vivotek IP7131 (New profile now added for this camera)

You can also group cameras together in to your own custom groups. All the headings and titles can be anything you want them to be.

I've not tested it yet, but I have been told mceNetCAM supports extenders and by the sounds of it Roger has some great new features and functions coming out in his next release. mceNetCAM is actively developed and will support Windows 7. It may do already? I have not tested it on Windows 7 yet.

Overall a great little plug-in for Media Center if you have IP cameras you can view and control your cameras with your MCE remote control.

If you find this software useful please make a donation to Roger Wyss the developer.
