Hello all,

I have an issue and was wondering if you can help.  I'm looking to purchase a receiver for my 7.1 surround system.  I looked at a Onkyo home theatre receiver that had HDMI 4in/1out 1080p upscaling. However, there is a little footnote within the user manual that said PC video input is not supported.   Then I looked at their other models and they had the same footnote.

Obviously, I will look at other brands but do you know of a good home theatre receiver with 7.1 that supports the HDMI video input from a MediaCenter PC?

The system I have is a HP Digtial Entertainment Center z556 with 1.5GB and DVI out.

 Thanks in advance.

Chances are that it will work despite that warning.  It just means that there might be some overscan issues (outside border of screen could get cut off) - if you update the video card drivers you will probably be able to adjust this as needed.  The other issue that you might have is when you turn on the computer with the receiver powered off - on some systems it won't detect a display, and it won't come on once you power up the receiver.  I don't know of a great way to avoid that currently - it seems to be a handshake issue with HDMI... I think it is one of those things that will be resolved over time.

Thanks for your reply.   I think I'm going to purchase the receiver and take a chance.
