Hi,

I have a VMC using 2 of the excellent Black Gold dual tuner cards

http://shop.blackgold.tv/product/3520

and am very impressed by this setup which allows me to record 4 channels simultaneously from DVB without a set top box!

I am now using Media Centre in my professional work in the Broadcast media industry where I am fortunate to have a large amount of storage space on my network available, such that its practical to store several hours worth of recordings e.g. a whole weekend of TV for 4 channels - for later viewing on demand That’s cool but not the su.

However in order achieve this it’s necessary to

A: Use a one time recording from the start to end time for each channel or

B: Select each show in the guide and click the Record button.

A is much less desirable as it results in cumbersomely large files, no program info or meta data for the shows, basically losing the benefit of Media Centre altogether.  B is great except that to record a whole day’s worth of TV on multiple channels takes some time!

Incidentally if you didn’t already know, pressing Ctrl R on the keyboard with a show selected in the Guide timeline toggles through the record options for a none single and series recordings.

So my question for the expert - Is there a way to automatically mark ALL shows for a channel to be recorded as soon as they are added to the local guide from EPG, or another way to record all programs automatically?

With a little scripting to manage the file’s this could allow time shifting of the desired channels for as long as there is free storage to record to.

Hope you can help.
