how can adjust the quality of the recorded tv show so it dosent take to much space on my hard drive

hi guys can u help me pls.. my media center, when i record a tv show the quality his very good but the size of it is to much is there somethine a can do to adjust the quality or the recorded tv? how?

pls help me thanks

1.  On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, and then click settings.

2.  Click TV, click Recorder, and then click Recording Defaults.

3.  In Quality, click - or + to select the quality at which the TV show will be recorded.
