I am trying to add our local radio station at http://www.channel103.com/ which has a link to listen live.  In Ian's book it does not mention much about how to setup the preset for thw URL.

It mentions having to do some sort of intitial setup in "Online Media Library" but I can see nothing intuitive to help me complete the task.

Does anyone know how?

Have a look at the addon webmedia. I use it for all my online radio. Basically you just enter the url to each radio stream, assign a category and station name. Works fairly well imo.

It is also possible to add internet radio stations in to Media Center without using a plug-in or add-in see here

SmileHey try www.livestation.com

It is not related to mediacenter but once you register with the site and download their toolbar, you can watch news channels and all those live.

Try with that, If you want an invite send a private message to me.

This may not help the original poster, but mcShoutCast is a great plugin.  It integrates really well with Media Center, and it works on the extender.  You can get it here: http://www.mcetools.de/ (website is in German, but there is an also an English installer).
Just my $0.02.

I'm having the same question. I would like to add the stations of www.SomaFM.com to my media center.

I checked the other answers I this thread but none of them fulfilled to  my needs and knowledge.

  • The webmedia solution: seems very nice, but it seems not to work on vista64. :-((
  • RadioTime: installed fine, but i cannot access it from my linksys DMA2200...
  • I also checked the 'without plug-in' options, however for a non-programmer as me, it is described very vague. Second of all wasn't I able to install the url snooper  2, which they adviced.

Does anybody have other suggestions? I would really appreciate  any help!!!

 Thanks in advance,

Bart

Hello Bart,

the Soma.FM stations are listed at ShoutCast, so you can use mcShoutCast to listen to them.
At the search section enter in SomaFM (without the dot). You can save the stations as favorites so you don't need to search for them again.

Hello,

I am using mcShoutCast for a few months and I really love this tool!

However, I have a strange problem. From the moment I select the ShoutCast window in y media center it starts to fade away. After I clicked the shoutcast 'button' ceveral times, I can hardly see them anymore?

I have tis fadding effect both on my Media Center Computer and on my Linksys Extender. Does soebody know what causes this problem? How can I fix it?

Thanks,

Bart

Hello Bart,

I doesn't have that issue, but someone else reported that too. New for me is that this behaviour also exists on a normal Media Center PC.
I think I need that getting fixed soon.

Sörnt,

I have no idea if this is the actual problem for the screen fading, but could there be some sort of an overlay that mcShoutCast is using that isn't being cleared properly the next time that it is launched?  Just a thought.

Hello Ryan,

do you also have got that problem? It's strange - it looks like an graphic card issue. I use on my HTPC and on my development pc NVida cards.
I fade the stations list away when the menu is selected. I think I don't restore that fading correctly - I will have a look at that part.

I haven't noticed this proboblem on my main computer (running an nvidia card), but I seem to remember something similar on one of the other computers I use that has onboard graphics (Intel chipset) - I will try to check it out on that computer again and report back later.  Thanks Sörnt.
