I followed all of the instructions above

My current setup is as follows:

Windows Vista Ultimate running Windows Media Center

XBOX 360

Windows Home Server

I want to be able to record TV shows using my Vista Machine  and then copy the files to the Home Server. I want to then be able to watch the shows uing my xbox 360 connected to the Vista machine as an extender

I can see and play the files files I have saved to the Home Server using the Vista Machine, However When I try to watch them using my XBOX 360 as an extender connected to the Vista machine I get the following error;

Video Error

Files need to display video are not installed or not working corretly. Please restart windows media center or restart computer

On WHS console setup a Guest Account with no password, that will fix the Video Error,  videos will play then.

I have followed the guide and cant get it to work.

I have vista ultimate.

When I try to record I get 'low disk space' error.

Alex - what did you do to resolve the low disk error?

Coma: How much space do you have on WHS?.
Have you try just storing the recorded TV on WHS(for now), try moving one of your Per-recorded TV shows to WHS" \\Server\recorded TV", does it still give you "low disk space erorr"

Did you change the Quota? You need to change this to what size your hdd is.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording]
"Quota"="300000000000"

 300000000000 =  300gb

Alex - my quota was already 320Gb - I tried increasing to 600Gb - i still get the error.

Thanks anyway

Richard,

I have 400gb free on whs. I have moved over about 10gb of recordings and cannot see them via mce.

In case this affects anything > I named my whs 'Homeserver' and have used this name in the setup. Also currently have Windows Live Onecare for virus and firewall etc

Maybe you need to configure some setting in Live Onecare?

I use nod32 antivirus and I had to exclude network in the  Amon media to resolve this error.

I'm almost out of suggestions. The only thing you can try is deinstall Live Onecare and see what happens.

I'm using windows firewall and nod32 with no problems.

Ian,

You do record to WHS with Vista right?

Don't you have this problem, http://thedigitallifestyle.com/cs/forums/thread/2811.aspx

Or is your MCE machine on 24/7

Maybe you can test it so I don't feel all alone anymoreSmile
