Hi everyone

I would like to know if there is a way to control the folders that appear in each menu item within the Vista Media Centre UI.  For example, I would like to remove the Music and Pictures folders from my Video Library.  Is there a way to control this?

Cheers

Geoff.

good question, I tried removing the Pictures and Music folders from Videos via the Library functions and it kept putting them back. So I have read the question out on this week Media Center Show

This is for the Vista MCE.

The secret is not to use MCE to 'help' you do this.

1. First off, get rid of all your MCE created watched folders.

2. Next, navigate to C:\Users\ and then in the 'My Videos, My Pictures' directories etc put a SHORTCUT to the place you store your videos, pics etc.

3. In my case, for example, C:\Users\My Videos\ contains a shortcut to my terrabyte RAID array "D:\My Videos\" created in the usual windows way.

4. MCE picks this up as content in the folder and as such doesn't cross contaminate it into the other 'My ....' folders. It appears as a single folder when seen by MCE.

5. Wonder which part of 'integrated consumer entertainment product' Microsoft doesn't get....

You may need to reboot to get the directory cache to settle down and you should also note that after a while you might notice that it suddenly decided the root directories become fair game to be watched. I believe this is a feature.
